The Sun
The maximum will be next year some time, but spot activities have increased, worth looking out for larger sports that are visible through thin cloud or fog to the unaided eye
Related to Solar activity is Aurora activities. For our latitudes none have been seen recently, but we can expect to see them some time, so keep looking
Moon
New Moon: 24th December.
First Quarter: 2nd November.
Full Moon: 10th December.
Last Quarter: 18th December.
Mercury
Mercury will be morning object from 12th December to January.
Venus
Venus will be in the evening sky until next summer.
Mars
Mars rises after midnight currently, so best to observe in the morning sky. Currently 9sec dia so quite small , but worth looking at as the pole cap will be quite clear currently
Jupiter
Jupiter is currently available from the late evening .
Saturn
Saturn is still well placed in the southern sky.
Uranus
Uranus is currently not available.
Neptune
Neptune is currently not available.
Meteors
12th December, the Geminids will have a rate of up to 100 per hour but the moon is just past full so will be difficult.
Comets
The best is Garradd which is a binocular object in Hercules. Use Heavens above web site for daily updates
